Naast het feit dat het gewoon heerlijk is en je er lekker warm van wordt, heeft het nog enkele goede eigenschappen. (waarbij ik hulp kreeg van het Internet)

Wanneer je dus keelpijn hebt, je je wat grieperig voelt, een verkoudheid hebt of voelt opkomen... dan is er maar één oplossing!

Je kan het zo moeilijk maken als je zelf wilt, maar eigenlijk is het heel eenvoudig.

Je kan natuurlijk de thee zo straf maken als je zelf wilt, dit doe je door meer gember te gebruiken of het nog langer te laten trekken.
Als de thee je te straf uitvalt, kan je er altijd water bijvoegen.

Om de gedroogde specerij te verkrijgen, worden de volgroeide wortelstokken schoongemaakt, grotendeels afgeschraapt, soms met kal of zuur behandeld om ze te bleken en dan in de zon of machinaal gedroogd. De Geur
Gember is culinair opmerkelijk veelzijdig: er worden worstjes en visgerechten, maar ook pirklimonade en snoepjes mee op smaak gebracht. Gember en andere leden van die familie izjn pikant en dat komt door de dingerolen, die chemisch verwant zijn aan het capsaïcine in chilipepers en het piperine in zwarte peper. De gingerolen zijn de minst sterke van die groep, en zijn ondergaan het makkelijkst veranderingen door drogen en koken. Als gember wordt gedroogd, verliest het gingerolmolecuul een kleine zijgroep van atomen en verandert het in shogaol, dat ongeveer tweemaal zo pikant is. Gedroogde gember is dus pikanter dan verse. Bij het koken wordt de 'hitte' teruggedrongen doordat een deel van de gingerolen en shogaolen wordt omgezet in zingeron, dat maar heel weinig pikant is en zoet en kruidig ruikt.

wel ik was toen dus ziek met heel veel keelpijn en na het drinken van de gemberthee (met honing) voelde mijn keel een beetje verdoofder. maar deed wel nog pijn. maar uiteindelijk is dat naast de kwestie, aangezien we gemberthee besloten te drinken omdat dat lekker is. en dat klopte, dus was het een succes. dat sindsdien nog enkele malen werd herhaald :-)
